Many application errors, general protection faults, and other strange problems are related to the video driver. To find out for sure, change the video driver to plain vga and run your application again. If your problem goes away, get an updated video driver for your video board. You should be able to get a new driver from your dealer, the internet, or directly from the video board manufacturer.
