Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect feature may be disabled after WindowsME upgrade
After you upgrade your computer to Windows Millennium Edition (Me) from
Windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition, the Norton AntiVirus 2000 Auto-Protect
feature may not work. This behavior occurs even if the feature was working
before the upgrade.
The NAV Auto-Protect icon does not appear in the taskbar or in the list
of running tasks (as NAVAPW32) when you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE.
To run the Auto-Protect feature in the background, restart the computer:
This behavior occurs only when you upgrade to Windows Me.
When I decided to upgrade my system, I re-formatted the drive and did a "fresh" install. I did not re-load Anti-Virus 2000 but purchased Anti-Virus 2001 and installed that instead.
